| Countertechnique intensive with Nina Wollny and Angie Lau |

Vilnius, May 16-20, 2011
Countertechnique is a movement system Anouk van Dijk developed during her 20-year career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. Instead of creating a static balance, one uses three-dimensional directions and counter directions to create a highly dynamic balance, to permit a wider range of movements and to engage effectively in multidirectional situations. The method focuses on both mental and physical aspects of dancing and strives to increase an overall awareness on the different levels that operate while dancing. With this heightened sense of awareness the dancer is able to make conscious decisions in training, rehearsal and performance. Since Countertechnique enhances re-defining directions constantly, the focus during training goes to processing instead of end gaining, and one becomes less concerned with judging oneself, but is more engaged with dancing in a mentally and physically healthier manner. The class works towards big movement combinations and in a later state also jumping.
WORKSHOP: Countertechnique Practical Tools with Angie Lau CT Practical tool workshop is for dancers who want to investigate and add on to their "dancing tools", and for those who want to deepen their knowledge and experience in Countertechnique outside the structure of a technique movement class. It will be a Laboratory in which basic underlying principles of the technique will be explored more extensively through games, awareness exercises, and discussions, and will allow time to apply them in improvisation, repertory, or own made material.
To let your first contact with Countertechnique be of a lasting experience, we suggest taking the technique class in combination with the workshop. Engaging in the CT from two different angles will bring a deeper understanding of the technique, will enable you to experience this approach to movement physically, as well as theoretically, and will help you to apply it in your dancing.
YOGA: moving from within with Angie Lau Yoga can instead of adding more layers to our busy life, peal them down to our essential sheet, and can give us a place to regain energy, while stimulating an awareness which calmly nourishes our body and mind. This class will be a gentle closure of the energetic day, and will address connecting principles which were explored in the previous movement classes from a yoga perspective. A main focus will be around the spine and its integration into asanas (postures), to uncover and become aware of unsound practice or movement habits which within time can harm the spine. Healthy structural integration of the entire body is sometimes overruled by an unconscious conformity we follow, without referring back to our inner reference system. By turning to our inner guidance and our breath, we will practice from within different energetic and restorative asanas which strengthen, twist, open up, and recuperate the body in a responsible way. This class is open to everyone. No background in Yoga or dance is necessary.
NINA WOLLNY Angie is also a certified Yoga teacher. She has started her yogic path with 14 and has been hooked to Yoga since. She has strong background in Iyengar Yoga, which teacher training she finished after many years of constant study. Last year Yoga took her all the way to NZ to study with Donna Farhi, a very well known prestigious Senior Yoga teacher and writer, who had a great influence on Angie's understanding of Yoga and teaching methodologies. The classes will not just include Angie's Yoga background, but also her gained experiences as a professional dancer, dance teacher, as well as a somatic body-work practitioner.
